Gimme shelter…

Caley Picture House Edinburgh

After years of nothing, then a spate of activity over the last few months, The Caley, or latterly the HMV Picture House, which was Edinburgh’s last serving medium sized gig, is about to become a mega-pub, probably the last thing which was needed in Lothian Road…

The Caley Picture House sold to Wetherspoon

J D Wetherspoon will be opening The Caley Picture House (no,really) on 06 December, selling cheap beer to the seething masses…I always think it is a well run business and their breakfasts are good, but this will remind people of my age of the bad old days of Lothian Road.  Could be a no go area after tea-time and at weekends again.

And the opening date?  Only 47 years to the day after the Rolling Stones free concert at Altamont Speedway, so not tempting fate at all.
